Trina and I met at California State University, Fullerton, where we earned our Master of Science in Gerontology degrees. Trina and I quickly discovered we were both entrepreneurially-minded, and passionate about introducing Gerontology to a larger audience. Even our own small businesses are complimentary. As a Certified Aging in Place Specialist, and owner of “Let’s Keep You in Your Home,” Trina blends an expertise in General Contracting with Gerontology and Social Ecology to offer low cost and low tech solutions that enable continued independent living. My own endeavor, “Let’s Move Mom” combines my expertise in Gerontology, Eldercaregiving and Professional Organizing to create custom elder-moving plans providing consultation with families who need options and solutions to care for their elderly loved ones. Trina’s background in the field of construction is extensive and diverse. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Social Ecology from the University of California, Irvine, and has completed internships with Veterans Affairs Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System, and the State of California Commission on Aging. She served as the President of the Orange County Forensic Expert Witness Association in 2005 and 2006 utilizing her knowledge and technical expertise in the field of construction defect which includes Environmental Hazardous Materials Technology and Light Construction Development Management. I would like to introduce you to my friend, professional associate and fellow Gerontologist, Trina Sauceda. Trina will be contributing to the TECHNOLOGY section of this website, with ideas that would normally be considered “low tech.” When you think about it though, simple common sense is truly our greatest technology and Trina is full of good common sense! She looks at the home environment with the eyes of an aging-in-place specialist who is pragmatic, realistic and frugal. Recognizing that the average age of the U.S. population will soon increase to 60+ with the aging of the Baby Boomers, her desire to see all Americans enjoy independent living for as long as possible generates the driving force behind her work and research.
